When is my dog a senior?
In dogs, an old dog is not defined by the exact number of years of life, but by certain age characteristics:
- worn teeth
- intestinal sluggishness
- reduced taste buds
- less active
- signs of wear and tear on joints and bones
- more susceptible immune system
- gray coat
- hearing loss / poor eyesight
The fact is that you have to take more care of your aging pet. Feeding the healthy FIDELIS Fresh Menu can alleviate some symptoms and give your senior dog back the energy he thought he had lost.
As a preventative measure, dogs should therefore be fed a biologically appropriate and varied diet with FIDELIS from an early age in order to prevent signs of ageing as far as possible. It is also a fact that dogs that have been fed ready-made food throughout their lives often suffer from heart, kidney, liver or thyroid disease, diabetes or obesity at an early age.
Overweight in old dogs
Many dogs tend to become overweight as soon as they become less active due to age and a lack of exercise occurs. The increased weight can cause severe joint problems. Feeding the cooked fresh menus from FIDELIS can help prevent this. The menus are optimally digestible and put less strain on the body than industrial ready-made food in a bag or from a can.
Digestive problems in old age
The gastrointestinal tract of older dogs is often no longer as effective as it used to be. Incompatibilities and allergies are also common. With the help of FIDELIS Fresh Menus, you can adapt your dog's diet to suit him perfectly and really only give him the food he needs.
When are the FIDELIS menus for seniors sufficient?
| Fresh menus | ||
|---|---|---|
| fed alternately | plus FIDELIS senior supplement | is needs-based |
| only one or a few varieties are fed | plus FIDELIS Senior Supplement and FIDELIS Vitamin and Mineral Booster | covers requirements |
| Dry menus | ||
| fed alternately | plus FIDELIS Dry Menu Oil and FIDELIS Senior Supplement | covers needs |
| only one or a few varieties fed | plus FIDELIS Senior Supplement and FIDELIS Vitamin and Mineral Booster | covers requirements |
However, every animal's nutritional requirements are different and depend on exercise, metabolism and other life circumstances. It is of course impossible to standardize the individual and exact requirements of a dog. Fresh natural ingredients, processed as little as possible and fed alternately are the key to a healthy diet, for dogs as well as for humans.

The FIDELIS Senior Vitamin and Mineral Booster provides ageing and old dogs with all the vitamins and minerals they need for a balanced metabolism. Our booster contains:
Calcium from algal calcium is easily absorbed and does not burden the metabolism; it ensures strong bones and supports muscle work, which often declines in old dogs.
Seaweed and yeast provide important minerals and enzymes A high vitamin C content from rose hip peel, which also ensures firm connective tissue and a strong, endogenous immune system.
Bioactive, pure collagen peptides support the joint cartilage The gingerols naturally contained in ginger optimize joint function and help with problems in the musculoskeletal system.
L-carnitine from carrots, an endogenous substance, promotes the supply of energy at the heart and in every cell of the body.
FOS = fructooligosaccharides from chicory act as prebiotic bioregulators and strengthen the physiological intestinal flora, which quickly becomes unstable in old dogs.
OPC = oligomeric proanthocyanidins from grape seed flour are natural antioxidants, can intercept harmful free radicals and protect at cellular level.
The FIDELIS Senior Supplement therefore contains all the vitamins and minerals, including calcium, that seniors fed with alternating FIDELIS Fresh Menus need on a daily basis.
The FIDELIS Senior Supplement contains all the vitamins and minerals, including calcium, that seniors fed with alternating FIDELIS Dry Menu menus and Dry Menu Oil need on a daily basis.
If your senior is to be fed with only one type of FIDELIS Fresh Menu (complete food), e.g. because he has allergies, you will also need our Mineral and Vitamin Booster. If your senior is to be fed with only one type of dry menu (complete food), e.g. because he has allergies, then you will also need our Mineral and Vitamin Booster.
However, we do not recommend a complete diet, but rather a varied diet with as many FIDELIS varieties as possible. The more variety, the more nutrients the dog gets directly from the original ingredients.
